reading and dyslexia
Supporting literacy and language development
Some children benefit from a more structured and explicit approach to learning the building blocks of language needed for reading, writing, and verbal communication. Difficulties in these areas may impact phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, reading comprehension, and written expression.
How can speech therapy help?
Our speech-language pathologists assess each child’s language and literacy skills to identify which areas may be contributing to reading challenges or dyslexia. We then provide targeted, evidence-based intervention to:
Strengthen phonological awareness and sound–symbol relationships
Support decoding, spelling, and reading comprehension skills
Build language skills that support written and verbal expression
When appropriate, we also collaborate with families, schools, and community providers and refer to additional resources to ensure each child receives comprehensive support for optimal success.
