Hearing loss

Supporting listening and communication with hearing devices

Children with hearing loss may use hearing aids, cochlear implants, or other assistive listening devices to access sounds and language. Even with these tools, learning to listen and communicate effectively can take practice and support.

How can speech therapy help?

Our speech-language pathologists provide individualized aural rehabilitation to help children:

  • Learn to listen and process sounds using hearing aids, cochlear implants, or other listening devices

  • Develop speech and language skills alongside listening

  • Build confidence in everyday communication at home, school, and in social settings

  • Support families with strategies to encourage listening and language development

Our goal is to help children make the most of their hearing devices and communicate successfully in all areas of life.
